Continuing our popular Meet the Team series, this month’s interview is with Lauren who works in our payroll team, processing payments and answering queries for our umbrella company employees.
Lauren was originally based in our contracts team, where she distinguished herself with her attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills. She enjoyed her time in contracts, but was very excited to move over to payroll, with its fast pace and demanding learning curve.
In conversation, Lauren speaks softly and after careful thought. She’s laid back and open, but also very sharp and our interview felt like a cool, still moment in an otherwise hectic day.
Perhaps obviously, she sees the pay-run itself as the most important part of her job. The promise that all our employees will be paid correctly and on time is central to everything we do, and we owe that reliability to the skill and expertise of our payroll team. From Lauren’s point of view, every day is different with a wide variety of queries and creative challenges.
On her experience of working at Orange Genie, Lauren picks out working with her team as being particularly rewarding. Our positive culture has come up in every interview so far, and for Lauren this means everyone gets along and works together.
Lauren has a degree in drama, and she hopes to get involved in theatre in the future. She has a lot on right now, though, as she currently lives with her partner and his parents, and their collective focus is on moving into their own home.
When she’s not at work, Lauren loves to be outside, and she sees walking in nature as an essential contrast to working in an office. We talk about their family walks with their dog in the wilds of rural Buckinghamshire, and it sounds like the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
