Our benefits platform, Orange Genie Companion, is an import part of what we do. We use it for several different purposes, one of the most important being the delivery of our employee wellbeing program. In this article we’ll explain the various benefits and services we provide to help our umbrella company employees manage their health and wellbeing, so you know what’s available and where you can find what you need.
Once you have logged into the Orange Genie Companion app, you’ll see four options. In this article we’re interested in two of them, My Physical Wellbeing and My Emotional Wellbeing.
This is a series of benefits and services designed to help you manage and improve your physical health. Of course, mental and physical health are intimately connected, and looking after one will often help you safeguard the other. Clicking on My Physical Wellbeing in the Companion app will bring up this list of option:
This is a combination of a lifestyle survey and a library of information to help you take control of your health and wellbeing. It takes just a few minutes to complete the survey, and it generates a detailed report with personalised advice based on your answers. This includes your “wellbeing age”, score and your risk of cardiovascular disease in the next 10 years. Your report also details your wellbeing “hotspots” as targets for improvement.
You can complete the survey as many times as you like, so you can return to it after making changes to see the improvement in your scores.
The Fitness advice hub is split into four sections; Move, Munch, Money and Mind, each designed with resources to help you take control of that aspect of your life. If you’re concentrating on your physical fitness, the Move section is probably the most relevant for you, with it’s free to stream exercise videos and health articles, but every aspect of your wellbeing is connected so we expect you’ll find a use for the other sections as well.
This is a library of hundreds of healthy recipes, with step-by-step instructions and full nutritional information. It’s organised into categories to help you find what you’re looking for, including “low calorie”, “quick and easy” family favourites” and an extensive list of different world cuisines.
You can use the service to create a meal plan to help you reach your fitness goals, or you can dip in whenever you feel like cooking something new.
This section gives you access to discounts at over 3,300 gyms, studios, fitness centres and sports clubs all over the UK, with savings of up to 25% on membership fees. You can search by your post code to find a gym close to you, and if the gym you want to join is not participating you can complete the “invite a gym” form and Gym Discounts will do their best to get them on board.
It’s important to us that we can be there when our employees need us, even though we employ thousands of contractors all over the UK. That’s why you’ll find a very important group of services under the heading “My Emotional Wellbeing” when you log in to your Orange Genie Companion app.
Employee Assistance Program
Our emotional wellbeing experts are available at any time of the day and night to provide you and your loved ones with confidential support for any life issues you may be going through.
Support is available through our confidential helpline, and you can access a wealth of information through the online portal.
If you’re a carer for a sick or disabled loved one, Orange Genie Companion provides private family care support. Our experts can help match you with a case worker and offer the best advice, support and resources.
To bring you and your family the information you need to help you tackle some of life’s thornier challenges, we’ve partnered with leading wellbeing provider BHSF to provide a number of online self-help books, covering a number of emotional and mental health issues. They’re available to download from within your Orange Genie Companion app.
You’ll see online GP listed under both physical and emotional wellbeing, for obvious reasons. You can arrange a confidential GP consultation at any time by phone, and video consultations can be arranged between 8:00am and 10:00pm 7 days a week, (8:00am to 8:00pm on bank holidays).
